I’ve recently noticed that when someone criticizes Obama by quoting really leftist positions without any support — and I ask for some thought & consideration of the issues rather than name-calling — I am dismissed as an Obama fan. Like I’m a rock star groupie who can’t see anything but the starlight. So I’ve started mentioning my own well-thought out criticism first (usually Guantanamo still being open) and voia! I don’t get dismissed out of hand anymore. Sad, really, that people can’t assume I’m a rational reasoning human being until I prove it.

Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) thinks that the effort to bring sunshine, openness, and transparency to the Federal Reserve by way of an audit (HR1207 / S604) is a bad idea. Here is what he had to say recently:

“The audit? It’s a bad idea,” said Tennessee Sen. Lamar Alexander, head of the Republican Conference in the Senate. “It’s a sorry day when the Congress superimposes itself on the Fed, nosing around in monetary policy.”

It’s funny how Rep. Bart Gordon calls himself a “blue dog” but is basically walking in lock-step with the expansion of government while also wasting taxpayer money on trips to Europe for him and his wife.

No, I agree. I actually wrote that blog back in October before the 1st bailout. I still believe that it’s being blown a little out of proportion. I mean, people aren’t eating each other yet, but yes, it is getting a little tight.

Unfortunately, government spending isn’t going to solve the problem… It’ll only make things worse. Only the free market can solve this problem efficiently, effectively, and quickly. Too bad it’s not going to get the chance.
